“Open Class” was given by Professor Alessandra Silveira, coordinator of the CitDig Centre of Excellence, to students at the University of Brasilia (Brazil), entitled “Digital citizenship and technological sustainability: new disruptive technologies and the legal and institutional framework for the protection of fundamental rights”.

On 28 August 2023, from 9am to 12pm, an “Open Class” was given by Professor Alessandra Silveira, coordinator of the CitDig Centre of Excellence, to students at the University of Brasilia (Brazil), entitled “Digital citizenship and technological sustainability: new disruptive technologies and the legal and institutional framework for the protection of fundamental rights”. The event was addressed by Maria Buzdugan (Counsellor for Economy, Industry and Digital Transformation at the Delegation of the European Union to Brazil) and moderated by Professor Alexandre Veronese (External Collaborator of the CitDig Team). The main provisions of the Declaration on European Digital Rights and Principles were addressed, as well as the relevant provisions on user protection under the Digital Services Act and the Digital Markets Act. The speakers highlighted the human-centred vision that has guided the European Union’s approach to regulating the digital ecosystem, especially regarding the proposed regulation of Artificial Intelligence (AI Act).
