As atividades CitDig contam com o contributo de todos os seus membros e também com convidados externos, decisores políticos nacionais e europeus, funcionários públicos, académicos de distintas áreas de especialidade – todos envolvidos no estudo da literatura científica sobre as temáticas CitDig, tendo em conta o atual debate jurídico e a experiência profissional dos envolvidos.
Programa de Rádio (Antena Minho)
Membros da equipa CitDig são convidados a intervir (mensalmente) no programa de rádio "Estado da União" transmitido pela Antena Minho - uma rádio regional (Norte de Portugal) onde a UMinho está localizada. Este programa de rádio tem o suporte do Europe Direct Minho e destina-se à globalidade da sociedade civil, por forma a permitir-lhe conhecer as novidades concernentes às políticas europeias, à sua atuação e futuras decisões.

This edition of the “State of the Union” program was attended by Alessandra Silveira (CitDig coordinator), Pedro Madeira Froufe (CitDig key staff member) and Francisco Pereira Coutinho (CitDig key external member), who reflected on what marked European integration in 2024, especially regarding: i) the changes in the geopolitical order due to the war in Ukraine and the USA elections; (ii) the new democratic cycle in the EU in the light of the European Parliament elections and the new European Commission; and iii) the new economic cycle proposal based on the report commissioned from the former President of the ECB, Mario Draghi. This edition of the “State of the Union” programme was attended by Alessandra Silveira (CitDig coordinator), Pedro Madeira Froufe (CitDig key staff member) and Francisco Pereira Coutinho (CitDig external member), who reflected on the 2024 Rule of Law Report (especially the chapter on Portugal), in which an individualised assessment of the situation in each Member State is carried out, basically in four essential dimensions (namely: (i) functioning of the justice system, (ii) fight against corruption, (iii) media pluralism and freedom, (iv) institutional checks and balances), aimed at detecting and preventing emerging challenges, as well as supporting reforms related to the rule of law (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzlWgL1Mnow).

This edition of the program “The State of the Union” was attended by Alessandra Silveira (CitDig coordinator) and Carlos Abreu Amorim (CitDig, key staff member, meanwhile called to perform functions as Secretary of State for Parliamentary Affairs). In the aftermath of the European elections on 9 June 2024, speakers sought to clarify the future for the Union with the new Parliament, also assessing the impact of the election results on the choice of top positions in the European institutions, as well as the possible consequences of the French elections on the integration process. The impact of European integration on the Portuguese political organization was also scrutinized, especially with regard to the relations between the Government and the Assembly of the Republic regarding the European decision-making process (https://youtu.be/_BO_oQEf-B0?si=BiseGKTo14Gv3xxc).

This edition of the programme “The State of the Union” featured Alessandra Silveira (CitDig coordinator) and Pedro Madeira Froufe (CitDig key staff member), who reflected on the speech of the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, at the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 10 May 2023, highlighting the reasons why the circumstances of integration have changed substantially in recent years, as well as the key issues to be addressed in the new political cycle that begins in 2024 with the European elections. This special commemorative edition of Europe Day was attended by Alessandra Silveira (CitDig coordinator), Pedro Madeira Froufe and Carlos Abreu Amorim (CitDig key staff members), as well as Sandra Cunha (Director of the IPCA School of Management), who reflected on the European Year of Skills (from 9th May 2023 to 8th May 2024), especially regarding the development of competences in higher education (how to develop students’ competences, how to assess the acquired skills, etc.), as well as exploring the challenges of developing skills for the digital transition, the green transition, and the changing European labour market (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnPZm-GMdiA).
This edition of the “State of the Union” programme featured Alessandra Silveira (CitDig coordinator), Pedro Madeira Froufe and Carlos Abreu Amorim (CitDig key staff members), who focused on the overall theme of the impact of thirteen months of Ukraine’s invasion on the integration process. As for specific topics, the speakers highlighted i) judicial independence in the Union of Law and the Agenda for Justice Reform in Portugal, ii) the agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom regarding Northern Ireland, as well as iii) the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) in Portugal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6sO6G6Cz8E).
This year-end edition of the “State of the Union” programme brought together Alessandra Silveira (CitDig coordinator), Pedro Madeira Froufe and Carlos Abreu Amorim (CitDig key staff members), who addressed the prospects of integration under the theme of a milestone: the 30th anniversary of the Treaty on European Union (which was signed in 1992 and entered into force in 1993). The current EU was the result of the progressive unification of the three European communities created in the 1950s, but it was only 30 years ago that the horizon of integration shifted from the concept of the consumer to that of the citizen – an important point to remember as the barbarity of war once again rages across Europe (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhO7TvDIOmo).
