This edition of the program “The State of the Union” was attended by Alessandra Silveira (CitDig coordinator) and Carlos Abreu Amorim (CitDig, key staff member, meanwhile called to perform functions as Secretary of State for Parliamentary Affairs). In the aftermath of the European elections on 9 June 2024, speakers sought to clarify the future for the Union with the new Parliament, also assessing the impact of the election results on the choice of top positions in the European institutions, as well as the possible consequences of the French elections on the integration process. The impact of European integration on the Portuguese political organization was also scrutinized, especially with regard to the relations between the Government and the Assembly of the Republic regarding the European decision-making process (https://youtu.be/_BO_oQEf-B0?si=BiseGKTo14Gv3xxc).

This edition of the “State of the Union” programme was attended by Alessandra Silveira (CitDig coordinator), Pedro Madeira Froufe (CitDig key staff member) and Francisco Pereira Coutinho (CitDig external member), who reflected on the political priorities to be taken into account by the European Parliament, identified by citizens in the December 2023 Eurobarometer – among which,  the common security and defence policy –, sought to clarify the reasons why security and defence have become the focal point of the European Parliament elections, as well as the role of that Parliament in the political debate, in the decision-making process, and in the conduct of the European Union’s policies (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYgs3BXYQ4Y).

This edition of the “State of the Union” programme was attended by Alessandra Silveira (CitDig coordinator), Pedro Madeira Froufe (CitDig key staff member) and Francisco Veiga (School of Economics and Management of University of Minho), who reflected on the political priorities to be taken into account by the European Parliament, identified by citizens in the December 2023 Eurobarometer – among which,  the economy and job creation –, in order to clarify the extent to which the EU can support the economy as well as contribute to the creation of new jobs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoyBMkSfbt0).

This edition of the “State of the Union” programme was attended by Alessandra Silveira (CitDig coordinator), Carlos Abreu Amorim (CitDig key staff member) and Júlio Rafael Pinto (Policy Manager of agricultural policies for sustainability and health at an NGO in Brussels and Master in European Union Law from the University of Minho), who reflected on the political priorities to be taken into account by the European Parliament,  identified by citizens in the December 2023 Eurobarometer – including the fight against climate change –, in order to clarify what the green transition consists of, which is based on the European Green Deal, as well as to unravel whether or not there is a conflict between agriculture and the environment, and what its impact will be on the European elections on 9 June (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2hPfAGwVz8).

This edition of the “State of the Union” programme was attended by Alessandra Silveira (CitDig coordinator), Pedro Madeira Froufe and Carlos Abreu Amorim (CitDig key staff members), who reflected on the results of the Autumn Eurobarometer (Parlometer), released in December 2023, six months before the European elections, debating what the survey reveals about the expectations of European citizens – and their willingness to vote in the June elections –,  having deserved to highlight the values that the European Parliament should defend as priorities, as well as the policies that Europeans would like to see treated as a priority (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4n9b07cszM).
